Me with Mary Burmeister in 2000 |
I bring over 30 years experience in the healing arts to my students and clients. My heart IS forever with Jin Shin Jyutsu and the world of plants. I am a student of nature, of the infinite, perfect, divine, creative Spirit that infuses all of life. I aspire to understand, more and more deeply, the macrocosm within the microcosm and the microcosm within the macrocosm. I know in my heart and in my bones that we are all connected, and I dedicate my life to the practice of facilitating harmony for myself and for all beings, along the way. |
My passion for the healing arts arose in 1992 when I spent a summer working on an organic farm in Oregon and discovered so many medicinal plants, growing as weeds. In 1994 I attended The California School of Herbal Studies, and then went on to study with Tieraona Low Dog at the New Mexico Herb Institute. In 1997, I attended my first Jin Shin Jyutsu class and knew that I had discovered my life's path in this beautiful, profound, and simple art. Jin Shin Jyutsu gave me a way of understanding myself and the universe that I had been searching for.
In 1997 I returned to California and began apprenticing with herbalist Karyn Sanders, the host of KPFA's The Herbal Highway. I also completed a certification training in Acupressure at the Body Therapy Center in Palo Alto in 2001.
I've been practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu and herbal medicine ever since, and have taught numerous classes in various locations, including the Northern California Women's Herbal Symposium, Charlotte Maxwell Clinic, the Goose Sisters Healing Center, the Philippines, and currently online. I lived in Tennessee for 5 months of my pregnancy, where I worked at The Elephant Sanctuary and had the honor of practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu with elephants and dogs there. (As well as humans). I completed the Cornerstone Doula training in Oakland in 2011 and have since helped more than 150 women through pregnancy and childbirth.
It's an honor to share my knowledge and gifts by holding space for you to open up to yourself and to healing and transformation. I work strongly from my intuition, and believe that compassionate presence is a key factor in the healing journey. I work with people dealing with all sorts of physical and mental/emotional disharmonies, such as cancer, auto-immune disharmonies, allergies, digestive ailments, anxiety, depression, injury recovery, and hormonal imbalances. I also believe in utilizing Jin Shin Jyutsu as preventative care and as a way to gain greater self-knowledge and tools for keeping yourself in balance. I have extensive experience supporting women through pregnancy and childbirth and am also very comfortable and versed in guiding people and their loved ones through the end of life transition.
In addition to my work in the healing arts, and as a doula, I've also worked as a gardener with an emphasis on native and medicinal plants and aesthetic pruning, and caregiver. I love painting, dancing, writing and spending time outdoors.
